RIB boat rental in Split, explained.
Why people pick a RIB
It is simple. RIBs cost less than speedboats of the same length, use less fuel, and sit high and stable thanks to the tubes. You can climb back in from the water easily, which matters when you stop to swim ten times a day.
The trade-off is comfort. Most RIBs have little or no shade, no cabin and no toilet. On a hot August day that adds up, so bring a hat and plenty of water, or pick a RIB with a sun cover.
Best trips for a RIB
- Blue Lagoon and Šolta: short ride, calm shallow water, perfect for a half day.
- Brač: the north coast bays are close to Split.
- Pakleni Islands: doable in a full day with a bigger RIB and a skipper.
For the Blue Cave, we would steer you to a speedboat instead. It is a long way across open sea.
Self-drive RIBs
Small RIBs are popular for self-drive. You still need a boating licence that Croatia recognises (Split-Dalmatia Tourist Board). If nobody in your group has one, take a skipper and let them find the quiet spots.
Before you book a RIB
- Does it have a sun cover (bimini)?
- Is fuel included or paid by use?
- How many people, and how much bag space?
- Where do you pick it up and drop it off?
We check all of it and send you the total in one message.
