Questions people ask

How much does it cost to rent a boat in Split?

The price comes from three things: the boat, the season and how far you go. A small RIB for a half day around Split costs a lot less than a yacht going to the Blue Cave in August. Send us your date and group size and we quote the full price before you book, with fuel and skipper either included or listed as extras. No surprises on the dock.

Do I need a licence to rent a boat in Split?

Only if you drive it yourself. Croatia asks boat operators to be qualified under the rules of the country whose flag the boat flies, which for rental boats means a recognised boating licence (Split-Dalmatia Tourist Board). No licence? Book with a skipper. That is how most visitors do it. More on skipper vs self-drive.

Can we visit the Blue Cave on a boat from Split?

Yes, as a full-day trip. The cave is on the island of Biševo, out past Vis, about 4.5 nautical miles from Komiža (Komiža Tourist Board). The entrance is only about 1.5 m high, so you go in on a small local boat. See the Blue Cave trip.

Half day or full day?

Half day works for the Blue Lagoon, Šolta or a swim stop near Split. For Hvar and the Pakleni Islands, Bol on Brač, or the Blue Cave, take the full day. You will spend less time looking at the clock.

What happens if the weather turns bad?

The skipper makes the call on the day, and safety wins. If the sea is not safe we help you move to another day. The exact cancellation rules come from the boat owner, and we send them to you before you pay anything.

What should we bring?

Swimsuits, towels, sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses and shoes that can get wet. Bring your ID if you are driving yourself. Many boats have a cool box, so you can bring drinks and snacks too.
