Speedboat rental in Split, explained.
What a speedboat day looks like
You meet the skipper in Split in the morning, load your bags and drinks, and head out. A typical full day has three or four stops: a swim in a cove, lunch in a harbour town, another swim, and back to Split before sunset. On a speedboat the ride between stops is short, so you spend most of the day swimming, not sitting.
Most speedboats for rent in Split have a sundeck at the front, a shaded seating area at the back, a swim ladder and a cool box. Bigger ones have a small cabin and a toilet. We tell you exactly what each boat has before you choose.
Where you can go in a day
- Hvar and the Pakleni Islands: coves for swimming, then Hvar town for lunch.
- Bol and Zlatni Rat on Brač: the famous beach, plus quiet bays on the way.
- Blue Cave and Vis: the longest trip, a real full day.
- Blue Lagoon and Šolta: short ride, easy half day.
With a skipper or on your own?
To drive a speedboat yourself you need a boating licence that Croatia recognises (Split-Dalmatia Tourist Board). Without one, you book the boat with a skipper. Some boats can only be rented with a skipper anyway. We would take one on your first trip either way: they know where the water is calm when the wind turns. Read skipper vs self-drive for the full picture.
What to ask before you book
These are the questions we check for you on every speedboat, so you don't get surprised on the dock:
- Is fuel included, or paid at the end based on what you used?
- Is the skipper's fee in the price or extra?
- How many people can it legally carry?
- Where exactly do you meet the boat?
- What is the cancellation rule if the weather turns?
We put every answer in the message with your options. You see the total before you pay anything.
