Private boat trip from Split, with your own skipper.
What the Pakleni Islands are
A chain of small wooded islands right off Hvar town. Boats anchor in the bays to swim, and people come for the beaches and restaurants. The best known spot is Palmižana, in Vinogradišće Bay, with a gravel and sand beach, an ACI marina and restaurants close by (Split-Dalmatia Tourist Board).
A typical day
- Leave Split in the morning and cross past Brač and Šolta.
- Swim in a Pakleni cove before the crowds arrive.
- Lunch at Palmižana or one of the other island restaurants.
- Hvar town. Walk the harbour, climb to the fortress if you have the legs.
- Swim stop on the way back, often on the south side of Brač or Šolta.
Which boat to take
A speedboat gives you the most time in the water. A yacht is slower but has shade and a toilet, which matters on a long, hot day with a group. A small RIB can do it on a calm day with a skipper, but it is a long ride with no shade.
Good to know
- Hvar town harbour is busy in July and August. Your skipper knows where to drop you off and when.
- Restaurant tables at Palmižana fill up. Tell us if you want lunch there and we will ask the skipper to plan for it.
- Want more? Add the Blue Cave another day. Don't try both in one.
